Today, mon ami TRAVEL tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the inspiring Old Cairo, which include collection of Coptic and Islamic sites
First, visit Salah El Din Citadel, the famous Cairo landmark, built by the Muslim caliph who defeated the Crusaders, between 1176 and 1183. It was then the center of Egyptian government until Khedive Ismail moved to the new Abdeen palace in 1860, and inside you will find Mohamed Ali Alabaster Mosque, which built between 1830 and 1848. Then we visit Al Gowhara palace built by Mameluks and Ottmanian.
After that we proceed to Ibn Toloun Mosque, Built in 877, which reminds one of the Samarra mosque in Iraq and is quite different from other Egyptian mosques. Its interior is open. The minaret is also the oldest in Egypt
We will also visit the Garry Anderson Museum, this is the mansion of the British Egyptologist Garry Anderson. Its many rooms display very interesting artifacts of the traditional life of the Egyptian elites.
We head after that to the Roman fortress of Babylon, which was a fortress or castle, and Hanging church, also called Al Mo'allaka church, which named for its location above a gatehouse of Babylon Fortress; its nave is suspended over a passage. The church is approached by 29 steps and early travelers to Cairo dubbed it "the Staircase Church”. We processed after to St. Sergius which sheltered the holy family.
We end our tour at the Coptic museum, which has a treasury collection of Coptic monuments, and then transfer to our hotel
